In the Legal Liability Insurance which came into practise in 1996, the number of companies was as in the year 1999 as the wide scope of cover hindered to find any reinsurer and the spreading of this policies could not be achieved also in 2000.

The total policy number in this branch increased by 228,48 percent to 228.821 in 2000 whereas it was 69.661 in 1999.

The 2000 premium income in the legal liability branch, where 3 companies were active, increased to 1,5 trillion Turkish Liras representing a 197,9 percent, increase in current prices and 138,67 percent in terms of the US Dollar over the previous year.

Consequently, the proportion of the legal liability branch's premium production within the total has risen to 0,09 percent in 2000, whereas it was 0,05 percent in 1999.

This branch's share within the total technical profit dropped to 0,44 percent in 2000 whereas it was 0,55 percent in 1999.
